Concrete Repairs for Grade II Listed Former Vinyl Factory
Enterprise House is a building heaped with history, from being the home of the former gramophone factory to the home of the record producing giants, Thorne EMI. The building is Grade II Listed and is also famous for having a somewhat unusual water tower perched at the very top and centre of the building.
UKG were contracted to take care of all concrete repairs to this historic building. Using specialist contractors, we have been able to take on the removal of the present Crittall windows to aid the replacement of these important architectural features. Unfortunately, the removal had exposed the poor quality of the structure and lead to UKG providing a complete repair package using the Sika range of products.
The main priority for this project is to provide a consistent finish to the window openings to allow for the installation of the newly manufactured frames. The fabric repairs must be consistent with the requirements of English Heritage and sympathetic to the original build which took place back in 1912. Original coatings are being removed using grit blasting techniques as well as for the preparation of the substrate for the Monotop system.
UKG have taken on the project using the full Sika range of Monotop products. Hand applied and pourable material will be used to reinstate both the structural beams and columns, which have deteriorated due to corrosion from the reinforcement steels. Our in-house form working team will form the new openings for the windows to the exterior façade on all 15 elevations of the property.

This is an ongoing project with works due to be completed for Q3 2023.
