Our Commercial Project Expertise

Switch House West was the first section of Battersea Power Station to be designed and built in the early 1930s. It was also the first area to which UKG was assigned when we were awarded the concrete repair works for the redevelopment in 2018.

The structure was increased to 8 stories, incorporating new apartments. Our brief was to start at the lower ground level with major structural tasks, while the steelworks & decks went up from levels 4 to 8. There were many elements to this 2.5yr concrete & structural repair project but the highlight is the level 2 corridor, where UKG rebuilt the lining wall to the base of the original Control Room A. We reinstated the ring beam, rebuilt the 47m support beam and created a sympathetic repair to the corridor which is the entrance for residents to their apartments.

UKG were retained to complete a range of external refurbishment tasks on the Nobu Hotel Portman Square, London. Following diagrams issued to UKG by the engineers on the project, we were given the veracious location on the facades where brick replacements and repairs were required and where steel brackets were required to be installed. When removing brickwork from these facades, we discovered concrete defects on the beams, which also required repair.

This 4-month project required UKG to carry out a range of very specific repairs at height, working with a range of other trade teams. All whilst ensuring that works were carried out to meet the deadlines of certain sections of the hotel being re-opened to guests, without any detrimental impact to their stay at this prestigious hotel.
